Provider Directory API (FHIR)

The Provider Directory API is a new tool developed to provide up-to-date information on healthcare providers and facilities to beneficiaries of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The API allows beneficiaries to search for healthcare providers and facilities based on their location, specialty, and other criteria.

The API was developed in response to the CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Final Rule, which requires health plans to provide beneficiaries with access to accurate and timely provider directory information through an API. The rule aims to improve access to care and ensure that beneficiaries have the information they need to make informed decisions about their healthcare.
